Nepal airlines on the run to bring stranded Nepalese from different countries back to Nepal.


Domestic and International commercial flights has been suspended for over 3 months in Nepal. As of now, the suspension period is extended till 21 July 2020. Airlines can only be operated for specific purpose with special permission from CAAN during this pandemic. Nepal airlines have rescued thousands of Nepalese stranded in different parts of the world and still there are so many of Nepalese left and still asking to be rescued. Nepal airlines has conducted 29 chartered flights till 26 June in this lockdown period which includes both passenger evacuation and medical cargo flights.

Nepal airlines flew to six countries throughout this lockdown period till June 26 including their first ever flight to Australia. The airline went out of the regular flight destination and flew to Australia to bring stranded Nepalese back to their home. The country’s national carrier flew to Guangzhou, Kunming, Beijing, Changsha, Narita, Fukuoka, Hong Kong, Delhi, Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra. All of the chartered flights operated to collect medical supplies were conducted to China. Out of 29 chartered flights, 8 of them were operated to collect medical supplies from China. Rest of the flights were operated to bring back the stranded Nepalese from different countries. 

The state carrier is still on the run to bring stranded Nepalese from different parts of the world. Apart from that,  several domestic flights were operated throughout the country during the lockdown period. These domestic flights were operated to collect the swab samples for PCR tests from different parts of the country to Kathmandu.

Meanwhile, Himalayan airlines on the other hand is also operating  chartered flights to bring stranded Nepalese from different countries. Himalayan airlines is a private owned company. The airlines has operated chartered flights for both cargo and passenger evacuation amid Corona virus lockdown.
