Schedule flights to resume from September 1, notice issued by CAAN.

The cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to terminate the he previous decision of resuming the schedule flights from August 17 and suspended all commercial flights both domestic and international till the end of the month of August.

On August 13, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) issued an official notice regarding the extension of the suspension of all commercial flights in Nepal. The notice also mentioned that previous date decided for the resumption of schedule flights has further moved to the 1st of September. So if everything is normal then the commercial flights might fly in Nepal from the start of next month.

The cabinet meeting held on Monday took the decision as the number of cases of coronavirus was increasing rapidly throughout the nation. Although the fear of the virus has lessen among the people, Nepal enters in a panic mode once again due to a sudden rise of the cases of virus. Nepal currently is under shutdown, public transportation is suspended and only the essential businesses and store are operated. The streets which were crowded a few days back seems to be empty again. The buzz is lost. The number if cities getting under lockdown is increasing throughout the nation. So, this might not be one of the best time to resume the commercial flights.

However, the chartered flights are still flying high up in the skies of Nepal. A handful of chartered flights which are permitted by CAAN including a couple international flights with permission are still operating in Tribhuwan International Airport.

According to the recent news, commercial airlines companies are not happy with the current decision of suspension of the schedule flights. They want to operate the flights as soon as possible. The airlines have already prepared for the safe flight and are ready to follow all the safety protocols throughout the process, and they have asked Government to resume the air travel for schedule flights as soon as possible.

While the suspension of the commercial flights is ongoing, the fare of the chartered flights seems to be very high. The concerned authorities must find a best optimal way if the situation goes on like this.

Different countries around the world have slowly started resuming the regular flights. So maybe if everything goes normal, Government of Nepal might stick on its decision to resume the flights from the start of the next month this time.
