Nepal Tourism Board to turn its website into booking site.

Tourism in Nepal has grown with a high margin in recent years. On 2019, Nepal recorded 1 million tourist arrival which is one of the major achievement of the nation. The year 2020, was supposed to be the tourism year VisitNepal2020 where the major goal of the campaign was to bring 2 million tourist to Nepal but things turned south due the coronavirus outbreak and the campaign was forced to be postponed.

Nepal is recognised as one of the best destination to travel in the world. There has been a massive increase in the number of tourist arrival in Nepal before 2020. Tourism is one of the manor economic backbone of Nepal but many portion of the economy is leaked in between the process. One of them is the booking sites. Yes, there is not any genuine or authentic booking sites in Nepal which is why tourist prefer to book hotels and other travel agents from the sites operated on foreign countries. Quite a number of tourist have made their bookings from Indian sites , like booking.com. Hotels and travel agents in Nepal have to provide commissions to those booking sites, which makes a majority of economy generated through tourism is exported out of Nepal. This has to be one of the major reason that for the official website of Nepal tourism Board (NTB) to be turned into a Booking site

The idea to turn the official site of NTB into a booking site is to make tourist sure about the genuine and authenticity of the site. The process of turning the website into a booking site  will be completed within this fiscal year as mentioned by Dr. Dhananjaya Regmi who is a CEO of Nepal Tourism Board. He also mentioned that the tourism board will focus more on the digital marketing in this fiscal year. This is a must as the business world at present runs on digital marketing.
