Nepal might lift travel ban for international tourists.

The fear of corona virus has relatively grilled down since the last couple of months as people are slowly getting back to their normal life although there are 1000 plus new Covid-19 cases everyday in Nepal. However, the lockdown inside the nation has not ended yet but unlike the previous shutdowns this time the government has set very few restrictions and have permitted to operate different facilities and services from last few days. Government of Nepal has urged people to follow all the safety and health protocols  while carrying out their respective activities. From the big industries to local shoos everything is open, at least for now in Nepal. Not only that, Government has permitted for hotels, restaurant, and travel agents to carry out their respective activities by mandatorily following all the safety guidelines set by the government of Nepal.

Trekking and Mountaineering activities to resume in Nepal for foreign nationals as well.(from 17 October 2020)

With offices, industries, hotels, airlines and several other services being resumed, it seems like Nepal is slowly going back to the normal state while fighting with the virus on the other hand as the Covid-19 situation has nit been improved yet. International flights has been resumed for weeks now while the domestic flights has been resumed recently in Nepal and with these flights being operated it has created a way for tourism. Traveling is still banned for tourists in Nepal and there has not been any update regarding it as of now but many foreign nationals  have arrived throughout the pandemic for special purpose by getting permission from the concerned authorities. Recently, the Prince of Bahrain has landed to Nepal for mountaineering activities as the Prince along with 17 other members has been permitted to trek on the mountains. Not only that, the six member team from Nepal who were permitted to climb Mt. Baruntse has already left for expedition. On top of that, the recent cabinet meeting has decided to open Nepal for trekking and mountaineering activities for both Nepali tourists and foreign nationals which makes it clear that Nepal will soon open for tourism at least for trekking.

A hopeful environment for tourism industry in coming days?

With the decision to open Nepal for trekking and mountaineering activities, the tourism industry could be hopeful about the other tourism activities as this decision has created a door way for tourism in Nepal. Well, it is pretty clear that Nepal will lift the travel ban for foreigners soon as the government has decide to permit the trekking and mountaineering activities for foreign nationals as well when it resumes. Not only the mountain activities but if we really have to think about it, there are several tourist activities that Nepal could resume which could be safe, like many adventure sports that requires minimal physical contact. With proper health and safety protocol and minimal physical contact, there will be no problem in resuming the adventures like Bungee jumping and paragliding.

Hotels, restaurants and travel agents have been resumed recently with conditions to follow all the guidelines set by the Nepal Government and with the resumption of these services it will definitely trigger tourism in Nepal, well at least the domestic tourism. Chandragiri one of the famous places of Kathmandu is now open for the visitors as they have announced recently and they will be resuming their services by following all the health and safety standards. Along with it, several other places in Kathmandu that are famous among tourist is now open. Apart from that, the new train has just arrived in Nepal and as per the sources the railway service which was stopped for years might resume soon after Dashain. So, there is a new means of transportation to Nepal which will run from Nepal-India-Nepal. As per the stats, India is the top country from where Nepal receives the most number of tourists and on top of that the Indians do not need visa to travel to Nepal. So the new railway services has created another door to receive tourists in Nepal which could add a huge contribution in the tourism industry of Nepal.

With all of these activities on hand and new plans and alternatives on the line Nepal might have hinted for a doorway to slowly conduct the tourism activities. Well at least for now, domestic tourism can be generated throughout the nation and there is a huge chance for that. To be really honest, domestic tourism could really be a big deal at the moment for the tourism industry of Nepal. On the other hand, Nepal must work on to improve the Covid-19 situation or at least lessen the spread of the virus for tourism to actually resume smoothly inside the nation.  Traveling to Nepal is still banned for foreigners but the decision to open trekking and mountaineering for international tourist might lift off the ban soon, so stay tuned.
