Travel update: Will the ongoing political situation affect your trip to Nepal?

After the dissolution of the parliament, there has been some tough war of words among the political parties every now and then. With the elections as well to be held soon, many tourists who plan on traveling to Nepal might be wondering whether it is a right time to travel to the Himalayan nation anytime soon.

Nepal has seen the arrival of international tourists since the resumption of tourism with only trekking and mountaineering activities arrival. A handful of tourists from different countries have arrived to Nepal since then. Now with the political scenario getting a little rough sketch in Nepal, Is it really the best time to head on your trip ?

With the dissolution of the parliament, not only the political parties but many local people were dissatisfied with the decision. Recently there was a huge protest against the decision where  hundreds of people were marching together which happens to be one of the biggest protests Nepal has ever seen. The protests did cause a huge traffic jam and there were many traffic diversions, many traffic officials were busy in the protests. Well, you can expect a few of those protest for next couple months or until the election maybe.

Despite the war of words, the strikes and vandalism which were very common back then seems to be a long way back. You do not have to worry about the strikes and vandalism for your trip to Nepal, well at least not in the capital, Kathmandu. So you are fine over there. So if you are keen on using local transportation services for your travel then you do not have to worry about it.

Moving on,

The decisions about the dissolution of parliament to be approved or not is yet to come. While on the other hand, elections will be happening soon in Nepal, most probably in April and May. So till then and till the decision of the dissolution of parliament arrives, things could get little wary in Nepal but not much or at least to the bad extent that it could affect your trip.

However, the dispute between the political parties might not affect your trip to Nepal this time. Still things might not be stable, we need to expect that as well but even if the scenario gets a little rough then there might only be a few distractions. Let’s hope for the positives.

Talking about the trip,

The on arrival visa rule has not yet been accessed for the tourists by the Nepal Government. You need to get a pre arrival visa or the permission for the on arrival visa before heading to Nepal. However, the tourism entrepreneurs are persuading  government and concerned authorities to grant the on arrival  visa for the tourists.

So take your time and be updated if you are planning to travel Nepal.
