International travel to Nepal might still take a while as lockdown extends

It has already been about a couple of weeks since the Nepal government imposed third lockdown in the nation due to Covid-19 concerns. Now the government has yet again extended the lockdown for two more weeks as the daily new cases of the second variant of Covid-19 cases keeps on  increasing.

The recent cabinet meeting has decided to continue with the lockdown throughout the nation with no major changes. The movement of people and transportation including the domestic and international flights are still suspended. For the emergency cases, anyone traveling from one district to another district has to get a permission from the CDO or the concerned authority like the usual.

The daily new cases of the virus has crossed over 9000 cases which has crossed the highest mark. So it is very much likely that traveling to Nepal and the operation of daily activities might take a while to get back to normal. The situation is getting out of control as per the present situation.

We can expect that until the daily new cases are controlled or decreased to minimum or until the vaccination is not yet widely provided to the citizens of Nepal, it seems that the present situation is unlikely to go back to normal. While a couple thousands are recovering every now and then but the daily new cases are increasing rapidly, so it is getting hard for the hospitals to provide bed and medical services. While the social media and the news portal are filled with both positive and negative news, we can only hope for the best as of now.

For the tourists who are here in Nepal, the nation’s tourism board has started travel locator service. So if anyone is stick somewhere in tourist destination of Nepal, you can contact the concerned authority. I suggest you visit the official page of Nepal Tourism Board, www.welcomenepal.com to know about the latest tourism status and the news about Nepal and the nation’s tourism industry.

Update: with the extension of lockdown for two more weeks, the international flights are also suspended till 31st May.
