Travel restrictions | Entry protocols to and from Nepal, March 2022

No need for RT-PCR test if fully vaccinated for tourists traveling to Nepal as per notice released on 10 March, 2022 by Department of Immigration.

 The department of Immigration, Nepal has come up with new notice regarding the travel entry protocol as of 10 March, 2022. As per the notice there are two major changes that includes both visitors who are traveling to Nepal and Nepalese who will be traveling to foreign countries. 

As per the notice, 

  1. Anyone traveling to Nepal by air or land are bound to submit the full vaccination against the COVID-19 certificate. Anyone who fails to submit the full vaccination certificate will have to submit the negative report of COVID-19 test report (which can be RT PCR, True NAAT, Gene Xpert) within 72 hours of starting the journey. 
  2. For passengers who are traveling to other countries from Nepal, the concerned airlines should provide all the detail and necessary information about health protocols of the destined country. Furthermore, all the health related documents submitted by the passengers who are departing from Nepal will be as per the health related criteria of the destined countries as prescribed by concerned airlines.

So airlines will be updating the documents required to travel to destined countries. However, anyone departing from Nepal might want to consult with their respective airlines to know about the health protocols that you must follow to enter  the destined countries. 

The notice published on 10 March also mentions that all the previously issued departmental notices regarding covid-19 has been revoked. So the travel restrictions seems to be slightly relaxed than before for the visitors.

COVID-19 situation in Nepal as of 11 March 2022

Nepal has been recording less than 100 new daily cases of COVID-19 lately. As of 10 March, there were 77 new cases of COVID-19 which makes a total of 977,786 confirmed cases in Nepal out of which 960,497 (98. 2% of the total confirmed cases) has been recovered. 

On the other hand, the travel destinations are open throughout the country and the all the tourist accomodation and services are in full fledge operation. Nepal is open and ready to welcome to tourists with wide arms once again. P
