Know the status of Nepal before commercial flights resumes.


Air travel ban is set to be lifted on August 17. Tourism is going to take a new direction after five months of hurting. So if you plan on traveling to Nepal, then there are a few things that you must know before you book the tickets. 

The first and foremost thing is the coronavirus is still spreading in Nepal. It is not over yet. Since the end of lockdown, Kathmandu and some other places has gained quite a number of positive cases of the virus which is why the Government has tightened the security in the regional border areas as well as national border areas. Some of the places with high number of cases have been gone under lockdown. Meanwhile, the day to day life of the capital looks pretty normal. People do wear gloves and masks and follow the safety protocols to some extent. It seems they have accepted to live with the virus. The infected are quarantined. The good news is the number of recovered patients are increasing day by day. However, the situation looks pretty much controlled in the capital as of now.

The next thing is the visa for tourist. Previously, before the pandemic, Nepal used to provide visa on arrival for almost all kinds of tourist from different countries. As of now, visa on arrival is suspended till further notice. You need to contact concerned authorities for visa for your travel to Nepal. You can also check the website of immigration department of Nepal for all visa and other travel related information.

To this date the article is posted, only twelve international airlines has submitted a request to CAAN to fly to Nepal as per the news. Turkish Airlines, Salam Air, Indigo Airlines, China Southern, Air China, Malaysia Airlines, Malindo Air, Jazira airlines, Air Arabia, Fly Dubai, Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines. Check their websites for their flight schedules. Apart from them, other international airlines has also shown interest to fly to Nepal as per the news reported. So there is a high chance that number if airlines will increase in the coming days.

Moving on, anyone traveling to Nepal needs a PCR negative report 72 hour prior to boarding the flight. Not only that, the PCR test will be done soon after you land in Nepal as well. You will be quarantined until your report comes. Only then you will be allowed to roam around the country as per the rules of the government.
