Tourist infrastructures slowly starts to resume in Nepal as the government intends to open for tourism from mid October.

It has been a couple of weeks that the lockdown in Nepal was set loose by the government. With that decision many services and facilities have resumed in many parts of Nepal. Kathmandu, the capital which has been seeing the highest number of corona cases lately in Nepal is already starting to get busier day by day. With the cases of corona on the other hand, the capital seems to be working pretty fine as of now.  The offices, industries and services sectors that are open now should mandatorily follow all the health and safety guidelines as mentioned by the government of Nepal. Since the time that lockdown was set loose by the government, the Kathmandu looks to be getting normal stages with certain restrictions on their hand. Almost every suspension imposed by the government is lifted now in Nepal, well at least in the capital.

With the removal of several restrictions that were imposed previously, the tourism industry in Nepal has now been permitted to run their organisations by the Government. The international and domestic flight have both been resumed in Nepal but the travel ban is yet to be lifted and might most probably stay till the mid October. However, the government has also permitted travel agents, hotels restaurants to run their activities but on the other hand government has nit come up with any news and information regarding the other tourist activities like bungee, rafting and many more other than trekking and mountaineering activities which will  resume from 17 October 2020.

Since the decision to resume tourism in Nepal with trekking and mountaineering activities, many tourist infrastructures has started to resume. The hotels have been preparing their facility for a while now by following all the safety and health protocols and they are all ready to welcome tourist, once the tourism resumes in Nepal and so are the travel agents of the nation, they have been eagerly waiting to welcome tourist to Nepal as the travel agencies has already been permitted to operate their activities. On the other hand, though Nepal has not welcomed foreign tourist yet for leisure purposes, several international flights has been added and several to be added while the domestic airlines have been smoothly running their flights in Nepal. Many domestic airlines intends on operating daily flights in the coming days. While the road transportation is still somewhat strict for traveling for one district to another, domestic flights could come really handy.

Meanwhile, few of the domestic airlines like Buddha Air and Yeti airlines, they are coming up with their own travel packages and will be launching cheaper flights. These packages might be only for domestic tourists as of now due to travel ban for international tourists but the packages might be valid once tourism is back in Nepal. So domestic flights with their different plans and packages at the best rate could be the best thing in coming days. Moving on, public transportation in Nepal is likely to resume very soon now and they should mandatorily follow all the health and safety guidelines as mentioned by the government of Nepal.

Apart from that, with the decision to resume trekking and mountaineering activities for both domestic and international tourists, the concerned authorities are also working on other tourism plans and the revival of tourism industry of Nepal. Recently, Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA) has written a letter to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) to resume the river adventure sports like rafting and kayaking as soon as possible to revive the water tourism from its loss. While the two teams has already been permitted for the expedition and one of them already on their way, it seems Nepal is finally ready for the tourism to resume in the nation.

With just trekking and mountaineering activities, Nepal could be heading for the safe resumption of tourism in the nation. On the positive note few of the trekking destinations are still Covid-19 free and the infrastructures and other facilities might resume in the mountains with the restart of trekking and  mountaineering.

However, many countries in the world have alerted about travel restrictions and safe travel by following necessary precautions as it is very much important at this time. If you plan on traveling anytime soon, I recommend you to have a travel insurance and make up your mind before you travel, also choose the best- well organized hotel and a travel agent that could guide your throughout your trip. The fear of corona might have lessen but the virus is still there and it is important to follow all the health and safety protocols.
