Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) is the only international airport in Nepal while the other two international airports are being constructed. Being the only international airport of the nation, TIA is always crowded and packed with passengers and staffs. On top of that, the nation’s only International Airport is one of the smallest International Airport all around the globe. Several airlines have shown interest to operate their flights in Nepal but the limited capacity of the airport has found hard to operate new flights. Now considering this issues and more, Nepal is building two new international airports out of which one of them is likely to be completed within the early months of next year and that is Pokhara International Airport. These airports will definitely create an ease among the airlines and also will be easy for tourist who want to travel directly to Pokhara- one of the favourite cities of Nepal among the tourist. As per the reports, Pokhara International airport has almost completed the basics and will be heading for the finishing very soon. So the skies of Pokhara will not only see the paragliding people, hot air balloons but also the big aircrafts in coming days.
Nepal is a Himalayan so it is not surprising at all to see the beautiful snow capped mountain ranges. While Pokhara is a perfect place to view the real picture of mountains, the high mountain ranges can also be seen from the capital, Kathmandu during the sunny days. You can witness beautiful views of the mountains ranges from the ramp area of the Tribhuwan International Airport. On sunny and clear days or after the heavy rain, you can gave a clear view of the mountain ranges. The scenes will definitely make you crave for photos. I m an who does not want to rake photos in airport specially at the airside to pose with an aircraft.
While boarding the aircraft, the passengers are taken by the ramp bus and the bus will leave you near the aircraft where it is parked. So while passengers are lining up to head on to the aircraft, many skips the line to take pictures with the aircraft but the ground staffs working in the ramp area will not let you to take photos. So many passengers pull sad face when they are asked to not take photos. I mean what is so wrong to take photos or pose for one. That is what youu might be thinking but there are certain rules that should be followed by everyone.
The very first thing that we should understand here is that airport has one of the tightest securities. There are certain rules and regulations, standards that should be followed by everyone from passengers, ground staffs to the authorities, everyone should abide by these rules. First of all, TIA has different areas and different sections which is not permitted to everyone working in airport whether the lower level staffs or the senior level staffs. Only the permitted staffs could work on certain areas. Next is the airside or the ramp area where the aircraft is parked. As I have told, only the permitted staffs working on airport can head to the ramp areas. Any staffs enter the ramp areas without proper pass or permission is fined and strict actions are taken.
Moving on, the ramp areas might seem empty, you might only the parked aircrafts and other vehicles but actually the ramp area is always busy. There are several works being performed and the vehicles like ramp bus are constantly being operated in this area which is why the it is mandatory to wear a ramp jacket to enter the ramp area. Whether it is a ground staffs, airlines staffs, officials everyone should wear a ramp jacket before heading on to the ramp area. Next time when you are boarding the aircraft, check it out, no one skips the ramp jacket while in the ramp area.
The Foreign Object Debris (FOD) is another important thing that you should know while in the ramp area as it might be one of the major reason that you are not permitted to take photos while boarding on to the aircraft. FOD generally means any object that are found in the ramp area or at the airside which actually can be dangerous if not careful. You might fall anything like an earphone when you are too excited to take photos with the aircraft. If by any chance these objects reach at the runway, it could be really dangerous. This is the main reason why runway is properly checked and cleared before the take offs. So FOD might be one of the reasons for the prohibition of taking photos at the ramp area.
Taking photos might not actually be prohibited at the airside of TIA but you are most likely to be asked not to take photos while boarding to the aircraft by the ground staffs and it might be due to the above mentioned reasons.
