Trekking in Nepal: successful treks amid Covid-19.

After a long hiatus, trekking activities in Nepal has been gradually getting back on the traNovember.a couple of successful attempts to climb the high mountains after lockdown.  The two different teams for expeditions permitted by the Department of Tourism of Nepal has succeeded to climb three different mountains respectively.

Successful attempt to climb Mt. Baruntse.

Mt. Baruntse is the latest trekking expedition attempt that has been successfully climbed by a Nepali team of seven members led by Dawa Steven Sherpa amid Covid-19 situation in Nepal. They were the first ones to be permitted by the trekking division (Department of Tourism, Nepal) this season and they have successfully climbed Mt. Baruntse – 7129 m.

Succeeded in climbing Mt. Lobuche and Mt. Manaslu.

The expedition of Mt. Baruntse is one of the famous and wild trekking adventures in Nepal. The team of Dawa Sherpa started their trekking journey from 6 September and now is the second successful trekking attempts of this season. The first successful trekking expedition was completed by the Prince of Bahrain with his team on Mt. Lobuchhe but the journey did not end there as the same team and the Prince has recently climbed Mt. Manaslu after their previous successful trekking expedition.

Another Nepali team has been permitted for Mt. Jugal expedition.

On the other hand, another team from Nepal will be ascending Mt. Jugal soon with an aim of encouraging the mountaineering activities in Nepal. The team has been permitted by the Department of Tourism for the expedition and has already left for the expedition.

Well, these successful attempts will definitely be encouraging for the tourists and the trekking agencies in coming days.

Nepal preparing for safe Mountain Tourism.

Apart from that, Nepal Tourism Board and different concerned authorities is preparing for safe mountain tourism which hints that the mountain activities will be carried out shortly. Mountain activities might be one of the top priorities when it comes to tourism in Nepal this time due to Covid-19 concerns.

Moving on, the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) has released a letter to its member agencies regarding the forms mentioning the documents required for the visa process for the tourists who will be arriving to Nepal for trekking activities from 17 October. Trekking activities might resume from now. However, tourists as a whole traveling to Nepal for leisure purpose might only be allowed to travel from mid- November.

There is still a confusion between the official resumption of tourism in Nepal. So you might want to keep up with the latest updates and check on to travel agencies for the genuine information but if you want to know about the safety, the Covid-19 situation might not be favourable for tourism activities as of now in Nepal but mountain activities might be safer than the rest.

Apart from that, October might be the date for trekking  but looking at the current situation, it seems November is only the best time to book tickets to travel to Nepal. Also with the start of Dashain in Nepal, people will be traveling back to their hometowns and many services might be put on a hold this time, so if you plan on traveling to Nepal for trek, why not wait for a month and see the situation then.
