Tourism in Nepal might only start from mid- November- the date postpones again

 

The situation in Nepal has changed now with the growing number of Covid-19 cases on hand. The lack of preparations and precautions has led to a little more worse Covid-19 situation than it used to be in Nepal. This catastrophic situation has forced the Nepal Government to postpone its earlier decision to resume trekking activities from mid- October to mid -November. Now international tourist might only be permitted to travel to Nepal for leisure and holiday purpose from mid- November as per the decision made by the recent cabinet meeting. 

To be honest, it was coming, the way covid situation is going on in Nepal, many of us already knew it. The cases of the virus has massively increased within last couple of weeks and this definitely hints that the tourism industry might not be fit enough to welcome tourists from mid-October. Kathmandu along with several other cities have been considered as the riskiest zones. Earlier the Covid-19 situation was moderate and Nepal Government was quick enough to take the decision to resume tourism from October as the tourism industry was ready but the Covid-19 situation has worsened now. 

Ad per the cabinet meeting, tourist might be allowed to travel to Nepal from mid- November but they have not mentioned about trekking only like the last time. Tourist might be able to be a part of different tourist activities after the resumption from mid November. As of now, tourists still have to wait a month again to travel to Nepal. 

Tourists might not need to stay in a hotel quarantine upon their arrival to Nepal next time. 

On the other hand, tourists who will be traveling to Nepal might not have to stay in a hotel quarantine facility next time when tourism resumes as many entrepreneurs have shown their dissatisfaction regarding the hotel quarantine for tourists upon their arrival. They will be allowed to travel to Nepal depending on their PCR reports. The further notice about this might arrive on the coming days. 

Nepal Tourism Board is closed for a couple of days due to Covid-19 concerns.

Apart from that, Nepal tourism Board (NTB) is closed for four days as a couple of staffs from the organisation has been tested positive for corona virus including the Tourism Minister of Nepal, Yogesh Bhattarai. On the other hand few of the services in the capital has been halted as of now due to Covid-19 concerns.  

 The tourism industry of Nepal might be ready to welcome the tourists but Nepal as a whole does not seem to be quite ready for it as of now. However, Nepal Government has been aiming for the resumption of tourism for a while now but the government is somehow forced to postpone the dates due to the frequent increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in Nepal. 

Looking at the current situation the month of November does not seem to be promising as well when it comes to the resumption of tourism in Nepal. Unless and until the government gets a hold of it, tourism is unlikely to start anytime soon in Nepal despite the continuous aim of Nepal government and tourism industry to resume tourism in Nepal as soon as possible. 

For now, mid- November might be the time when International flights will be ready to bring tourists from different parts of the world to Nepal as the government aims to resume tourism since then.
