As October starts, the date for the resumption of trekking in Nepal gets near. Government has come up with new protocols for the tourist traveling to Nepal for trekking and Mountain activities which will soon open. As per the source, the tourists who will be traveling to Nepal for trekking and mountaineering should apply and get their visa before arriving to Nepal. If tourists are unable to get the visa in the concerned country before coming to Nepal, with the prior consent to their travel agents in Nepal, the immigration department will issue their visa on arrival. So it seems, tourists who will be traveling to Nepal for trekking and mountaineering activities can get visa on arrival but not for all. Only the one’s who were unable to get their visa from the concerned country can get visa on their arrival to Nepal. However, for more detail and clear notice you might want to consult with your travel agents in Nepal, Nepali Embassies and follow up the notice from the immigration department of Nepal before you make your trio to Nepal. The on arrival visa has been suspended for months now due to Covid-19 concerns but the government might be partially lifting the suspension for the upcoming trekking and mountaineering activities as Nepal will open for both international and domestic tourists.
PCR and quarantine updates for international tourists traveling to Nepal.
On the other hand, the quarantine and PCR rules stay same as before. International tourists who will be traveling to Nepal for trekking and mountain activities should provide a PCR negative report 72 hour prior to boarding the flight. Not only the PCR negative report is enough but the tourists who will be arriving in Nepal should stay for atleast 7 days in a hotel quarantine facility where they will have to do the test again in the fifth day and will only be allowed to head out for trekking if the PCR report comes negative. While getting in a hotel quarantine as soon as you reach Nepal might not be so much of a fun, but it is completely necessary for everyone’s safety and most probably for you to have a safe trip as well. Tourism is already shaping up in Nepal with domestic tourists.
Moving on, the tourism industry is slowly shaping up in Nepal with the resumption of several tourist activities, adventure sports and many tourist sites. Apart from that, Pokhara – the peak point of tourism in Nepal has already geared up many of their activities and operations to resume tourism in full throttle as possible. As of now, international tourists are still not allowed to travel to Nepal for leisure purpose as the travel ban is lifted which will be happening soon. The government has also made it mandatory that the tourist who will be travelling to Nepal for trekking and Mountaineering activities to have a travel insurance.
