Is food tourism the new trend in the tourism industry of Nepal.

Food has always been there when it comes to traveling and tourism. It is more like an integral part of the tourism. Whether it is a local cuisine or a fine dining, there is always a highlight of the food when it comes to traveling and tourism.

Foods or different cuisines which used to be a part of travel or a journey has now  taken a new step in the field of tourism. In the present world, there are new trends every now and then in the field of tourism. New and unique tourism products has been introduced every now and then and traveling gor the unique foods has been another trend not just in Nepal but must probably worldwide. Food tourism has taken a whole new shape today in the field of tourism.

There is a separate category for food tourism which could be also known as culinary tourism or gastronomy tourism as well. However, in context of Nepal or more likely in the capital many restaurants, resorts and cafes have started introducing unique foods. Locals from the capital or all over Nepal are seen to be traveling around different places where these cuisines are available.

While the restaurants are serving their popular and unique dishes, they are indirectly attracting lots of visitors to different tourist destinations around where the restaurant is located. It does not have to a fine dine and a traditional cuisine anymore to get the attention of people, just some unique and delicious that could buzz up the social media world will make people travel from places to places just for the food.

On the other hand, social medias are one of those platforms which deserves a huge credit for the promotion of food tourism. With social media comes the food bloggers and vloggers- the new trend which are followed by thousands of people. They most certainly deserve their credit for getting the attention of people to the destination for that food. From Laphing at Bouddha to Ne a Lahana Restaurant at kirtipur, people are traveling places just to enjoy the food.

So it is not about the ‘food tasting and fine dine’- food tourism anymore. People are traveling to places where from a simple cup of tea to some unique foods offered by different restaurants to locals stalls, whatever is viral on social medias, people will travel to places for it. Even at times, a certain photo booth at restaurants and resorts will attract hundreds of visitors. Things are quickly taking shape these days.
